Trevor L. James

One of our judges this year.

Trevor James is managing partner of the London office of international law firm, Morrison & Foerster, where he provides corporate and international tax advice. His clients include international banks, public and private companies, venture capital houses and high-net-worth individuals and he has sector-focused experience in advising technology, healthcare, media and communication companies.

James has particular expertise advising on the tax aspects of private equity and M&A transactions. He has advised private equity houses on the design and implementation of tax-efficient private equity fund structure and the tax-efficient investment in MBOs, MBIs, secondary buyouts and venture capital financing (from early stage to pre-IPO funding). He also has advised a number of public and private companies on the planning and implementation of domestic and cross-border acquisitions and disposals.

James is a frequent speaker at public seminars on a wide range of corporate tax subjects. He is involved – and indeed takes a hand-on approach – in many of Morrison Foerster’s Corporate Social Responsibility work, including work for homeless charities such as Crisis.

In 2008, Trevor James became the first black Managing Partner of major City firm.
